Video! Fill Effects (Turn your speakers on)

Many objects, such as shapes created on the drawing toolbar and chart points, allow you to choose a fill color. The following options refer to using the fill color button on the drawing toolbar; however, the following options also apply to most other objects where you can change the color.

  1. Click on the list button beside the Fill color button on the drawing toolbar.


  2. Select a fill color from those shown or select More Fill Colors or Fill Effects. Refer to the headings below for more information.

More Fill Colors

    If you chose More Fill Colors in step 2. above, the following window will appear:

  1. In this window you can select a color and set the transparency. If you're happy with that color, choose OK, otherwise you can further customize the color by selecting the Custom tab. The Custom tab offers the following choices:
  2. Drag your mouse around the rainbow area to select a shade then drag the hue marker (black triangle) up or down the scale to adjust the lightness/darkness. You can also adjust the transparency.


  3. Choose OK to apply the color to the selected object(s).

Fill Effects

If you chose Fill Effects in step 2. above, a window is displayed offering you four tabs:

Gradient

  1. If you select the Gradient tab, the following window appears:
    1. Select your colors, transparency and shading style and variant (note: each of the shading styles offer four variants) - so many choices!


    2. Choose OK to apply the gradient to the selected object(s).


Texture

  1. If you select the Texture tab, the following window appears:
    1. Scroll through the list to select a texture of your choice. You can also click on the Other Texture button if you have a file you would like to use for the texture.

    2. Choose OK to apply the texture to the selected object(s).


Pattern

  1. If you select the Pattern tab, the following window appears:
    1. Use the list buttons in the Foreground and Background fields to select your colors.


    2. Click on a pattern then choose OK to apply it to the selected object(s).


    3. Choose OK to apply the gradient to the selected object(s).


Picture

  1. If you select the Picture tab, the following window appears (without the picture):
    1. Click on the Select Picture button to navigate to the drive and folder where the picture you want to use is located..


    2. Double-click on the picture to select it..


    3. Choose OK to insert the picture within the selected object(s).
