Flagging Email Messages

Don't you hate it when an important message gets buried down your Inbox list and you forget to do something with it? Here's a handy solution, flag it for follow up action.

Unlike previous versions of Outlook, this new version integrates the flagging feature with your Outlook Tasks. When you flag an email for follow-up, Outlook adds the item to your To-Do list (Tasks).

Flag an Item

  1. Display the folder that contains the message you wish to flag.

  2. While pointing in the flag column on the list item that you wish to flag, click the right mouse button. The following list appears:
  3. Select a flag condition from those listed.

  4. To add a reminder and flag to an item, click on Add Reminder. The following window appears:

    1. Use the list button in the Flag to field to select one of the available flag types.

    2. Use the list buttons in the Start date and Due date fields (if desired) to specify these dates (very handy if you use the Tasks feature in Outlook).

    3. Use the list button in the Reminder date and time fields to specify a date and time to display a reminder (if desired).

    4. Use the list button in the Flag color field to specify the color of the flag to display.

Clear A Flag or Mark As Complete

While pointing in the flag column on the list item that you wish to effect, click the right mouse button.

Set Quick Click Flag Condition

If you set a Quick Click Flag condition, the selected condition will be applied to an item when you simply click in the flag column. To set the Quick Click condition:

  1. While pointing in the flag column beside any item, click the right mouse button then choose Set Quick Click. The following window appears:
  2. Select the condition for the quick click action using the drop list button then choose OK.
