Excel Ribbons

Microsoft Excel 2010

One of the greatest changes to Office 1007 & 2010 is the introduction of ribbons rather than drop-down menus (really, you'll grow to love them). Click on an item in the ribbon bar (where it shows Home, Insert, Page Layout, etc.) to view the ribbon choices available under that item.

If you want to quickly learn where a menu item has been replaced to, visit the Where'd It Go article. This article contains clickable clicks from Excel 2010 to the equivalent features in Excel 2010.

The following shows the various ribbons available:

Keyboard Access to Ribbons

If you like keyboard access to ribbons and ribbon choices but do not want to memorize a million combinations, press the Alt key. You can then use the arrow keys to move through the ribbon displays. In the following illustration, the Alt key was pressed at the Insert ribbon. Note the letter access to each ribbon. You can tab the letter indicated to access that feature/function.
